There’s Going To Be a New Labyrinth Movie
But will it be a reboot or a sequel?
Yesterday the news broke that Labyrinth, the 1986 film starring the late, great David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, may be the latest classic movie to be on the receiving end of a new reboot.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Tri-Star has finalized a deal with The Jim Henson Company to work on a new Labyrinth movie, with Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel co-writer Nicole Perlman set to work on the screenplay.
While there isn’t any official comment from the involved parties, it also looks like it’s unclear whether this film will be a complete reboot of the first Labyrinth or a potential sequel. As someone who enjoyed the original movie immensely, I’d hate to see it fall prey to the endless stream of reboots we seem to be getting lately. A sequel could be a much more enjoyable tribute to the franchise as well as the legacy of those involved who are no longer with us–Bowie and Henson being two of them.
What are your thoughts on this? If there is a Labyrinth sequel OR reboot, who would you want to see getting involved?
