Disney just made an announcement of the dates and details for a slew of new movies, including two as-yet-unnamed Marvel flicks, Into the Woods, and a re-title for the upcoming Muppets sequel. Here are some of the highlights.
- Marvel’s films will be released on May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017. Anyone up for Cinco de Mayo parties with a superhero theme?
- Into the Woods has a release date for Christmas, 2014. If it’s anything like the play, that’ll be an uplifting family film for the holiday season.
- The Muppets…Again is now retitled as Muppets Most Wanted. The film is still slated for release on March 21, 2014.
- A sequel to the not-yet-in-theaters spinoff of Cars, called Planes, has already been announced. Expect Planes: Fire and Rescue to drop July 18, 2014.
- On a less “WHHYYYYY?” note– Saving Mr. Banks, a film about the production of Mary Poppins and the story of the tense relationship between Walt Disney and the author P.L. Travers, is coming out on December 20. Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson lead.
