New York Comic Con Is Starting Today, and We Need You!
When I first began covering NYCC in the Before Time, it was a relatively small gathering that shared space with an anime con. These days, attendance has rocketed past 180,000 people, events are spread across multiple locations, and NYCC has become the geek destination on the Eastern seaboard. This also means there’s a lot of panels and screenings—both big and of slightly smaller stature—that are taking place.
We want to know what interests you most. And if you’re at NYCC, we’d love to have your hawk’s eye view.

The full and totally massive NYCC schedule can be viewed here, starting with Thursday’s events, through Sunday. Helpfully, you can navigate by type of content on the sidebar: TV, movies, comics, books, diversity-focused, cosplay, and more. NYCC is a particular destination for established series as well as those that are just launching, so there’s a ton of exciting TV stuff there. (This is in contrast to SDCC, which tends to be more movie-centric.)
Just a few featured shows this year:
- American Gods
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
- Marvel’s Runaways
- The Gifted
- Voltron: Legendary Defender
- Star Trek: Discovery
- Black Mirror
- The Walking Dead
- The X-Files
At The Mary Sue, we strive to be your geeky eyes on the ground, and we want to cover what you’re interested in. Tell us in the comments what you’re most hoping to see news from, or forever hold your peace.
We also know that Mary Suevians may be roaming in the NYCC wilds. We always love to hear your stories—did you almost collide with David Duchovny in a hallway and forget your name and purpose? (This happened to me.) Are you arranging a special meet-up you think we should know about? Do you want to show off your badass cosplay, or send us pictures you took of others’ badassery?

If you’re at NYCC, send anything you want to share to kaila@themarysue.com and we’ll do our best to include it in our coverage. See you soon! I’ll be the one with the Babadook pride pin on my backpack.
