What Would Titanic Be Like if Jack Spent All of His Time With a Cat?

My meows will go on.

It has been scientifically proven that everything is made better if you insert a cat into the situation. Such is the case with OwlKitty, an Internet sensation who’s been meowing her way into various motion pictures. Her latest project? James Cameron’s Titanic to keep Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack Dawson company before the ship hits that iceberg.

Who is OwlKitty?

According to the feline’s website, OwlKitty (real name Lizzy) is like most balls of lovable fluff – though she’s never caught a bird. When she’s not enjoying the taste of cream cheese, she’s making her way into movies and video games.

Lizzy (stage name: OwlKitty) is a 4 year-old floof living in Portland, Oregon. She stars in all your favorite movies and tv shows and gets lots of treats and cuddles in return. Offscreen, Lizzy loves her laser pointer, her adoptive mother (a 12 year-old tabby) and the taste of cream cheese. She’s never caught a bird.

So far, OwlKitty has made appearances in such classics as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, How to Train your Dragon, The Shining, Titanic, 50 Shades of Gray and Risky Business. You can also find her in Game of Thrones, Ariana Grande’s music video and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Along with OwlKitty are the folks working behind the scenes. This includes filmmaker, animator, and lifelong cat dad, Thibault “Tibo” Charroppin, creative writer and content editor, Olivia Boone, and Juliette, OwlKitty’s adoptive mama cat.

So you wanna go to a real party?

Uploaded just in time for Valentine’s Day, OwlKitty’s take on Titanic puts her in Rose’s place. We see Jack drawing OwlKitty like one of his French girls (French cats?), feel the desperation of getting the cat off of the boat in one piece, and yes, we get the classic “I’m flying” scene with a cat.

Lifting your cat so they go full “long cat” mode is something I do with my cats all the time, it just never occurred to me to have Celine Dion playing in the background while I did it. That’s going to change starting today.

Other OwlKitty classics

As to be expected when you click on one cat video, you feel the urge to watch even more cat videos. According to OwlKitty’s YouTube channel, there are currently 58 videos you can watch, the most popular (and my personal favorite) one being Jurassic Park… but with a cat.

Jurassic Cat?

Meow Park?

There are so many moments I can relate to in this video, particularly the part where OwlKitty drops down to roll into the car. That’s definitely a move my chunky cat does ALL the time, whether it’s my leg, whatever work I’m doing, or his own siblings.

That’s probably why I enjoy these videos so much. OwlKitty isn’t doing anything out of the ordinary, she’s still acting like a cat, she’s just being put into different situations that elevate her actions (or perhaps they’re revealing how treacherous cats can be, depending on the video).

It’s definitely worth checking out OwlKitty’s library of work. It’s also worth checking out the behind-the-scenes videos that show how everything gets made. From filming OwlKitty behind a green screen to editing the shots, and that all too relatable feeling of using a toy to get your cat to move a certain way, it’s fascinating to see what goes into making a cat look like a dinosaur that’s terrorizing humans.

Or becoming the clay pottery that sets the mood for the couple.

What an (insert cat pun) way to spend time on YouTube.
