Peter Jackson’s Keeping the Hope That He’ll Direct Doctor Who Alive
Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff
As are we all, Peter. As are we all.
Peter Jackson has made his intentions well known: given half the chance he would embark on the first television project of his career and direct an episode of Doctor Who. All he’d ask from the BBC in return would be one of those fancy new gold daleks. And all the talk from folks like showrunner Steven Moffat and Who producers seemed positive but ultimately a little silly so yes we’re still kind of hanging on the possibility…
Until Jackson says that it’s totally not silly now. While talking to journalists, the director explained that there have been discussions about him and Doctor Who, and that they are “actually kind of serious”. And yes, he did suggest a New Zealand story. “Something to do with the [rugby union] All Blacks versus the Daleks. There’s a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!”
There you go, Jackson, taking things right back into silly territory. At least the director has directed a doctor before: Sylvester McCoy, who plays Radagast the Brown in The Hobbit.
