At last, the chair has been filled!

Marvel announced today that director Peyton Reed will be taking the Ant-Man helm. Reed’s previous credits include Bring It On, The Break-Up, and Yes Man. This isn’t his first time working in the Marvel universe, either. He was attached to Fantastic Four (2005) while the film was still in development (he eventually walked away from the project). And he’s not Ant-Man’s only newcomer — Anchorman director Adam McKay, who turned down the job last week, will be making contributions to the script.

So. That’s that.

The Marvel announcement also included the first brief plot summary we’ve seen for Ant-Man, which we’ve got quoted below.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

According to Marvel, they’re still dead set on a July 17, 2015 release. We’ll have to wait until then to see how Ant-Man turns out, but given Reed’s comedic background, I think it’s fair to assume that this one’s going to be pretty light-hearted.

What say you guys? How do you feel about this choice?
