Every Upcoming Pixar Movie and TV Series Releasing in 2022 and Later

Fire and Water from Pixar's Elemental.
(Pixar)

Ever since Toy Story came out way back in 1995, Pixar Studios has proven itself to be one of the most innovative animation powerhouses in the film industry. With beloved classics like The Incredibles, Wall-E, and Inside Out under its belt, Pixar has proven time and again that it’s capable of blending technical mastery with rich and moving storytelling. Now, Pixar is continuing its winning streak with new movies and shows set to premiere in 2023 and beyond.

The advent of streaming services has changed the landscape for Pixar. Now that movies are no longer guaranteed to premiere only in theaters, Pixar has been releasing more of its films straight to Disney Plus, with recent releases Luca and Turning Red both hitting the streaming platform without a theatrical release. Partly, this is because of the Covid pandemic, which hurt box office numbers at its height as families avoided taking their kids to crowded theaters.

Still, though, Pixar’s upcoming releases promise to remain just as high quality as its past offerings, no matter what format we watch them in. Here are all the upcoming Pixar projects that have been announced, along with their release dates and how you can watch them!

Cars on the Road (Now Streaming on Disney Plus)

(Pixar)

This Disney Plus series, starring Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, follows the cars as they go on a cross-country road trip around the U.S., meeting various cars, planes, and other vehicles along the way. The show has Lightning and Mater meet up with both familiar faces and new friends. The series is written by Steve Purcell and produced by Marc Sondheimer.

Elemental (in theaters June 16, 2023)

(Pixar)

We don’t know much about this project yet, since it’s almost a year away, but we do have the official synopsis from Pixar:

In a city where fire, water, land, and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: How much they actually have in common.

Win or Lose (Streaming on Disney Plus in fall 2023)

Pixar also has an original series streaming in fall 2023: Win or Lose, the story of a middle school softball team.
