Sony Finally Redesigning PlayStation Store, Only Took New Generation of Consoles
The dawn of the next generation of video game consoles is nigh. Though they haven’t exactly been forthcoming about their next-gen consoles, both Microsoft and Sony are obviously hard at work on them. Plus, the Wii U is definitely coming. With this is mind, it’s obviously time that the PlayStation Store got a major redesign. Instead of actually making it useful during the actual life of the system, it should clearly be both useful and quickly obsolete.
On the other hand, Sony has a habit of using the same store interface for all their products. Maybe this will transfer over to any new consoles. Sony explains:
PlayStation Store now offers more than 20,000 pieces of game-related content including downloadable games, add-ons and themes and more than 100,000 videos and TV shows. With so much to choose from, the redesign offers easier navigation to locate the perfect game, video or application. Product pages will deliver in-depth information about games and videos, while providing an amazing high definition visual experience found only on PS3.
It’s heavily-laden with marketing copy, but the redesign actually does look pretty spiffy. Anything to make that thing more easily navigable is a plus in our book.
