Pokémon GO Lets You Choose a Pokémon Buddy in New Update
It'll be version 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS.
Moving forward, part of playing Pokémon GO will resemble something like a buddy system for your Pokémon-catching experience. That’s because, with its newest update, Pokémon GO is finally instituting that “Buddy Pokémon” perk (which we covered back when the news first started to circulate a week ago).
According to an update from the development team, your Buddy Pokémon will assist you in earning candy by walking a certain distance–and don’t fret. If you decide to pick a different Buddy Pokémon, you can swap one out for another at any time.
Niantic’s update to the app, in addition to some minor bug fixes and other smaller updates, includes adjustments that “fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation”, as well as “improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.”
Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on whether future updates will allow you to catch a more diverse array of Pokémon rather than the same ones that continue to spawn outside Pokéstops (I see you, Rattata)–but, as always, Niantic reminds its users to download Pokémon GO from the official App Store rather than acquire it anywhere else.
