We’ve been talking about FX’s upcoming adaptation of the superhero story/police procedural comic series Powers for a while now–We’ve been hearing about various casting news and potential plot thing-a-ma-jigs for months. But until now, with the picture above, we had never actually seen any bit of it. And as exciting as it is to hear all this news, sometimes you just need photographic evidence that something is actually happening. And so, we direct you to the picture above: Proof!

Powers, which has been running as a creator-owned comic series since 2000, follows detectives Christian Walker–who was once a hero who lost his super abilities–and Deena Pilgrim, who will be played by Jason Patric (seen above) and Lucy Punch, respectively.

The first season of the series will follow the pair as they investigate crimes, along the way exposing the seedy underbelly of the superhero world.

The show is currently filming in Chicago, and is set to air in 2012. The pilot has been scripted by Emmy Award winning television writer Charles H. Eglee (who has previously worked on shows like Dark Angel and The Walking Dead), with direction of the pilot going to Justified‘s Michael Dinner. and the network has expressed its interest in having it be a “Gritty” crime drama in the vein of The Sheild and Zodiac. Carly Foulkes has been cast as Retro Girl, with Bailey Madison as Calista.
