Prometheus Wants You To Know it Has a Trailer Coming Out Soon

Cautiously Optimistic

Ridley Scott‘s return to the Aliens universe, if not the Aliens franchise, is highly anticipated by many. Robin Hood didn’t really impress, and hopes are up for a return to Scott’s hard sci-fi roots. And the movie is pushing its PR, with stills, a trailer, and, yes, two teasers for the trailer. And as much as I hate to dignify this kind of egg-before-the-egg-before-the-chicken thing by supporting it… they’re actually kind of cool. Which is to say they reminded me that Alien was a horror movie and that I don’t generally like horror movies and ohgod if I curl into a ball the floor monsters won’t get me.

And for those who are still hanging on the idea that Prometheus might have the aliens of Alien in it, Scott offers clarification in no uncertain terms. Again.

So, will there be xenomorphs in Prometheus?

No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He [the xenomorph] did very well,” Scott said. “[He laughs.] He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

That sounds pretty clear. Care to muddy the waters again, Mr. Scott?

If someone could, a being, could be as monstrously clever to create something like we experienced in the very first [Alien movie]—I always figured it’s a weapon, and I always figured that [the ship in the first Alien] was a carrier of weapons. Therefore, who is that, inside that suit? That wasn’t a skeleton, that was a suit. And if you open up the suit, what do you get inside it? And why were they going, where were they going?
