Remember Some of Horror’s Bravest Female Warriors With This Infographic
Which Final Girls made the final cut?
If you’re a horror fan like me, you’re pretty well-versed in the long list of Final Girls (or Survivor Girls, or female characters that live to the end of a horror movie, defeating the often male killer with a weapon of choice, be that an actual physical weapon or an emotional weapon like courage or doubt). But it’s never a bad thing to be reminded of some of these great female characters, especially as the most horrifying time of the year (Halloween, witches!) creeps around the corner, and movies and shows like The Final Girls and Scream Queens try to turn the trope on its head. That’s where HalloweenCostumes.com comes in.
In this new infographic, HalloweenCostumes.com reminds us of some of the great Final Girls of the past, including the leading ladies of classics like Psycho and A Nightmare on Elm Street (Nancy Thompson, represent!), as well as some more modern horror movie icons like Mia from the new Evil Dead, Erin from the awesome You’re Next (if you haven’t seen this movie, please rent it like now, mainly for Erin) and, of course, Sidney Prescott from the Scream movies. Also kudos to them for including a list of Final Girls who didn’t make the final cut (haha, but seriously), but are equally awesome (Jessica from Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, Suzy Bannion from Suspiria, Heather Mills from I Spit on Your Grave, Kirsty Cotton from Hellraiser, Yasmine from Frontier(s), and Samantha Hughes from The House of the Devil).
On that note, let’s start talking about which Final Girls are awesome, but not all that appreciated. Who else deserves a spot on this infographic and any other future infographics about the bravest female warriors of horror? Also, where are our diverse Final Girls of color, both in this graphic and in the movies?
