This unveiling of the first opening scene of Rick and Morty season three is downright stupendous, and honestly, might set a new high water mark for animated comedy.

Okay, fine. Listen. If you looked at the thumbnail of that video and didn’t see what was coming, then I really don’t know what to tell you. Hell, if you’ve ever seen any Rick and Morty at all, then you maybe should’ve had a tiny, itsy-bitsy inkling of what to expect, right?

Anyway. If you didn’t click it, good for you, you missed a . And welcome to the internet. For the rest of us, though, we’ll have to live the rest of our lives knowing that the folks at Adult Swim Australia took down a collective fanbase with one of the oldest memes known to internet history. What’s more, I’m pretty sure that all of the images are from the past two season of Rick and Morty, and if there are any new shots in there, they flew right past me. Brilliant.

But let’s be honest: if a show you created had as ravenous a fanbase as the one belonging to Rick and Morty, you wouldn’t be able to resist messing with them from time to time, right?
