Ridley Scott Commits to Direct and Produce Another Bladerunner Movie
and let it be known
According to Deadline, the unthinkably improbable has happened: Acon Entertainment and Warner Bros. have agreed to respectively produce and distribute Ridley Scott‘s own second Bladerunner movie.
Alcon Entertainment was the company behind Christopher Nolan’s Insomnia, as well as The Book of Eli, and one can imagine that they’re pretty excited to be working with Scott. But there’s still a lot that’s unclear about the project:
From Deadline:
I’m not getting a clear sense at this point whether Scott intends to do a sequel or a prequel to the 1982 film that was loosely based on the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Also unclear is whether they start fresh or reach out to Harrison Ford.
Prequel or sequel, the movie still has yet to be written, but there’s plenty of time to get that done between now and the release of Prometheus, Scott’s return to the universe of Alien (if not the subject of xenomorphs directly) after an absence of thirty three years.
Hey! Maybe Ridley Scott is just revisiting his entire career, in order! After Bladerunner 2 he’ll make a commercial for the iPhone, then another Legend movie and eventually we’ll wind up with a prequel to Thelma & Louise.
I am un ashamedly in favor of this.
