It’s a good year for making fun of bad movies, and not just because we’ve already gotten at least one movie that heartily deserves it. More Mystery Science Theater is officially on the way with a brand new cast, but the originals—whether you’re a Joel fan, a Mike fan, or both—are getting back together for a reunion show.

The guys at RiffTrax (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett) are doing pretty well on their own while MST3K stages its official comeback, but that doesn’t mean they can’t join series creator Joel Hodgson, Frank Conniff (TV’s Frank), Trace Beaulieu (Dr. Clayton Forrester, Crow T. Robot), Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl Forrester), Bridget Nelson (Nuveena, Mr. B Natural), and soon-to-be host Jonah Ray in a live riffing event for old times’ sake. This comes courtesy of yet another Kickstarter (still seven days left if you want to give them a boost), a platform that has been fruitful recently for fans of bad movies and those who make them good again.

RiffTrax LIVE: MST3K Reunion will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota (the home of MST3K) on June 28th, but you’ll be able to watch along with the lucky theater-goers in select movie theaters around the country. (Theaters and ticketing info available here.) They’ll be riffing on those classic, silly educational shorts you may have seen, and the Kicstarter says, “There’ll be a ton of funny stuff which we’re still figuring out, but we know for sure you’ll get a night of amazing and hilarious shorts riffed of course by our own – Mike, Kevin and Bill. Bridget and Mary Jo, who have been a big hit on RiffTrax, will team up; Frank and Trace will dazzle you with their awesome comedic talents, and Jonah Ray and Joel Hodgson round out the cast as they riff a short together. Then, prepare yourselves for the grand finale: a SUPER RIFF-A-PALOOZA with all the guests at once!”
