Legendary British Thesp Sir Richard Attenborough, 90, Passes Away
We’ve lost another one: Oscar-winning director and actor Sir Richard Attenborough passed away yesterday at the age of 90.
You’ll see other sites highlighting Attenborough’s work in films like The Great Escape and Brighton Rock, or his directing credits, which included the 1983 Best Picture and Best Director Oscar winner Gandhi. To be sure, his entire decades-long career is worthy of much respect. But you’re on The Mary Sue right now, so are you really surprised we’re going to focus on his role in one of the most perfect films of all time (OF ALL TIIIIIME), Jurassic Park?
I thought not.
Tweeted his Jurassic Park co-star Joe Mazzello: “Richard Attenborough was the kindest man I have ever met. I am honored to have been directed by him and to have acted along side of him.”
BBC News writes that the actor had been in a wheelchair since falling down the stairs six years ago, and had been in a nursing home with his wife, actress Sheila Sim, for several years.
Goodnight, John Hammond. May flights of velociraptors sing thee to thy rest.
