Of Course Robert Downey Jr. Is the Only Avenger Who Had the Full Script for Avengers: Endgame
Are we surprised? If anyone was going to know the entire outcome of Avengers: Endgame, it would make sense that it would be Robert Downey Jr. He was the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it often revolves around him in one way or another (for better or for worse). If this is truly the end of the line for him, why wouldn’t the Russo brothers let RDJ in on the entire story?
The world of Avengers: Endgame is very secretive, and with rats like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo chatting up everyone without realizing they’re spoiling things, one cannot be too careful. The Russos do have good reason for not giving the full script to everyone and, it isn’t because they don’t trust their actors, as they told Rotten Tomatoes:
“Part of our motivation to do that is it just takes a lot of pressure off of people. It is hard to constantly censor yourself about what you’re saying, how you talk. These movies are your whole life, it’s everything you’re doing all day long. The inclination is to talk about it. So we take a lot of pressure off of people by just saying, OK, the less you know the less you have to mind yourself.”
With so many of us worried about being spoiled for the movie, it makes sense that this is a very “high stakes” situation at Marvel. Not everyone would be able to know what’s going on because they would then run the risk of spoiling it more than already necessary, but now they don’t have to worry about that on top of everything else. If the entire cast knows the entire movie, you think they’re going to be able to stop from saying something in an interview?
There are 22 movies throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and chances are they might mess up and think what they’re saying is already out there. So basically, what this all means is that if we have any questions about Avengers: Endgame, we have to corner Robert Downey Jr. and make him listen to “The Futurist” on repeat until he caves.
