Help, I Can’t Deal With Rod Stewart’s “Batman Superman Spider-Man” Song
Yes, I put the hyphen in myself. No, I don't care.
Let’s get one thing straight: Rod Stewart wrote this song as a lullaby for his son, and everything about that is stupendous. But then … then he released it on an album that people might actually purchase and listen to, which is incredibly silly.
Stewart said of this album:
When my last album was so well-received, it gave me the confidence to keep on writing and to examine and write about different things. It also gave me the freedom to experiment with different sounds like reggae, ska, and Celtic melodies.
And also with having backup singers chant “Batman Superman Spider-Man,” apparently. Go ahead and give it a listen, and try to reconcile your feelings of “this is a nice thing” with “this is also kind of embarrassing”—basically how all children already react to their parents anyway. Rod Stewart: Daddest Dad.
