Rumor: Potential Spider-man Reboot Title Fueling Speculation

Recommended Videos

Kevin Feige has said that his Spider-Man reboot will not be an origin story, and while it’s hard to be super hype about seeing another Peter Parker on screen, I have to admit I’m curious about how he’s going to try to make a fresh adaptation.

BBC caught that Sony registered the web domain SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie last week and while the domain isn’t solid proof, it’s definitely leading to a lot of speculation on what we might see in the reboot. Mainly, fans are speculating could be a reference to the “Homecoming” storyline from the 1980s Amazing Spider-Man #252, in which Captain America and Iron Man appearsomething that Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. have hinted at previously. Feige also said that the deal which allows Spider-Man to appear in Civil War goes the other way.

Comics Alliance, however, points out that the “Homecoming” storyline is one where “not much else of excitement happens,” and it seems unlikely that the movie will incorporate Peter’s first encounter with his Venom costume. “Homecoming” may also be an appropriately adolescent title to play off of Feige’s statement that the films is John Hughes-inspired. Does Spidey need to worry about fighting crime and finding a date to the dance? (Does this mean Hark! A Vagrant’s Kraven comic may be a reality? I hope so!)

Also Screenrant notes that The Lizard and Felicia Hardy appear in the 1980s story, and while The Lizard probably won’t play a huge role (Feige having previously said the villain has not appeared in any of the live-action films), it’s entirely possible that the title might hint at Zendaya’s mysterious role.

I think there’s some exciting possibilities among these theories that would make Feige’s reboot pretty exciting, do you like the title?
