Russell T. Davies Teases Wizards vs. Aliens
Meanwhile...
Hey, remember Russell T. Davies? Of course you do. He put Doctor Who back on the map in 2005, spun off Torchwood in 2006, and started up The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2007. And we certainly wouldn’t forget about him just because there’s a new team on Doctor Who doing awesome things four a couple of years…
Right. Glad we got that out of the way up front. The last we heard of Russell T. Davies’ newest show, Wizards vs. Aliens, it was undergoing a fundamental name change due to the request of various lawyers.
That is, from Aliens vs. Wizards to Wizards vs. Aliens. Davies didn’t mention whose lawyers made the request. One wonders if Cowboys and Aliens could possibly have had that kind of clout after flopping at the box office.
But I digress. AvW is inching closer to actual airing, with the release of its first official photo (above) and a plot synopsis.
It involves both wizards and aliens. Should I have put that under a spoiler tag?
Tom Clarke [Scott Haran, above left] is a seemingly ordinary boy who loves football. He lives with his dad Michael and grandmother Ursula in an ordinary house in an ordinary street – but there’s something different about Tom. He has an astonishing secret – his family are Wizards! When the alien Nekross arrive on Earth hungry for magic, there’s big, big trouble in store for all wizardkind.
With the help of his friend and science super-brain Benny [Percelle Ascott, above right], Tom must stop them – but will these two unlikely heroes succeed, or will the Nekross devour all the magic on Earth with disastrous results for the whole planet?
