Samurai Jack Comes Back to Television Real Soon, Gets Official Release Date
Samurai Jack fans, your seemingly interminable wait is almost over.
In a quick bump on Adult Swim last night, the network responded to a fan’s Twitter question asking when Samurai Jack is supposed to make his return. The answer was simple enough, really: March 11th, 11:30pm.

If you haven’t heard of Samurai Jack, then let me tell you: you may very well be missing out on one of the best animated series of the early aughts. It centers on a samurai—whose name, if you haven’t guessed by now, is Jack—who battles against a shapeshifting demon named Aku. During a crucial battle, Aku displaced Jack in time, sending him into the far-flung future where Aku has already taken over the world because of Jack’s absence. The series focuses on Jack’s conflict with Aku and his journey back home to his family.
It’s got all the great hallmarks of a “wandering samurai”-type drama, and it was created by one of the greatest creative minds in animation: Genndy Tartakovsky, who also created the original Dexter’s Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars. He’ll be involved for this fifth (and final) season, returning as executive producer for the show. This season is supposed to be a final bow for the show and its creators, who were left hanging a bit when the show was suddenly cancelled way back in 2004.
So, seeing as how we’ve got a few months ahead of us before we can dive into some new episodes, why don’t you go ahead and get caught up? I know I’ll be re-watching.
