Putative Terminator Sequel Shows Putative Sarah Connor Ressurection
Good News Everyone!
The much labored over Terminator 5, which has definitely had its rights acquired by a production company committed to making it, and definitely has Justin Lin attached, but may or may not involve Arnold Schwarzenegger in a non-central role, may or may not star Paul Walker, and may or may not involve “the original timeline being torn, again” can add one more may or may not to its list:
It may or may not have a living Sarah Connor in it.
The leukemia-related death of long-time series heroine Sarah Connor was acknowledged in a single line of Terminator: Rise of the Machines, and was listed prominently along fan criticism of the movie; it was thought that such an important character, and the main character’s mother, shouldn’t be given such a hasty exit out of the plot.
But apparently Justin Lin agrees with this sentiment too (from Moviehole):
I mean, Sarah Connor is such a big part of the franchise, you know. Yeah, I mean I’ve always been surprised how in part 3 she was just like… It was like one line and she was gone… But I think the great thing about this franchise is you have… You can actually have different canons because you have the element of time travel. So, there’s a way of kind of respecting all the works but also able to create a new time line.
Lin said he would consider bringing Sarah Connor back to be “righting wrongs.”
We certainly wouldn’t say no to the return of a kickass scifi lady of the silver screen.
