When you spend a long time away from home, there’s certain things you just miss, right? That’s what Scott Kelly had to deal with in his 340 days in space. Not only was he a long way from home, he was in a place where he couldn’t even really find substitute home comforts to help that feeling of homesickness. Kelly shared his “firsts” on Instagram, showing everyone the first time he’s experienced every little thing since returning from space. Included in his list of firsts was a nice dinner, not necessarily because of the food, but because of the dining experience that comes with being out at dinner. It’s an interesting take on the meal sharing experience that we often take for granted. Additionally on the food front, Kelly got to enjoy a bit of apple pie courtesy of the Biden family–yes, that Biden family.

Kelly also shared some stories and thoughts around his first rain, first steak, and even his first flower. You should check out the full round-up over on the Huffington Post.
