San Diego Comic-Con Partnering With Lionsgate for New Online Video Channel
In what The Hollywood Reporter consistently and frustratingly refers to as a “service aimed at fanboys” (okay), SDCC and Liongate are partnering up to deliver all fans a new vide0-on-demand service online.
The subscription service will make forty-five years of SDCC archive footage available online, as as well as Liongate films and TV shows, and other original video content. SDCC Director of Marketing and Public Relations David Glanzer said that this is part of a plan to provide “the unique magic of Comic-Con and the celebration of comics and popular art to our fans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and around the world.”
“The fan base for the kind of films and television series showcased at Comic-Con has grown exponentially,” added Lionsgate President of Worldwide TV and Digital Distribution Jim Packer. “A subscription video-on-demand service is the ideal platform to capture the magic and excitement of the Comic-Con experience year-round as well as the perfect vehicle for Comic-Con fans to discover new content.”
