In one of the first actual scenes we’ve seen out of Infinity War, my girl Shuri teaches Bruce “I have 7 PhDs” Banner a thing or two.

We’ve guessed for a while that Shuri would be instrumental in looking into the conundrum that is Vision—namely, that Vision has the Mind Stone embedded in his forehead, and Thanos kinda needs it. But now we finally get to see Shuri in action in her lab, interacting with my favorite Science Bro, Bruce Banner. We also get a sense from the background of this scene just who is in Wakanda assisting with the Vision issue.

The camera pans from Shuri around so that we also see that Steve, Wanda, T’Challa, and Dora Milaje warriors are watching the proceedings. This fits from what we’ve seen so far from some of those “battle for Wakanda” scenes and toy sets. Sam and Bucky are likely there too, but maybe off on a mission of their own? (Please let them be off on a mission of their own—those two need a whole series of odd couple action movies.) Natasha’s whereabouts are also unknown.

Another intriguing thing about this scene is that Bruce is with the group, so this likely takes place in the middle or latter half of the movie, since the Thanos threat needs to be established, Hulk needs to reach Earth, turn back into Bruce, and somehow the Avengers need to be reconciled enough that Bruce joins up with the Team Cap side.

In this brief clip, Shuri is examining Vision with Wakandan tech. A model of Vision is projected by her Kimoyo beads. “The structure is polymorphic,” she says.

“Right,” Bruce says. “We had to attach each neuron non-sequentially.”

“Why didn’t you just reprogram the synapses to work connectively?” Shuri asks. On the table, Vision seems to think this is a good question.

“Because we … didn’t think of it?” from Bruce.

“I’m sure you did your best,” says Shuri politely.

Listen, I know we’re in for an epic showdown of a movie with tons of fights, but I could seriously just watch Shuri and Bruce do science for two hours, especially if that means no one has to die. Add in Tony Stark and Peter Parker as their lab assistant, and you’ve got a sitcom that I’d tune in for every night.
