Saturday Night Live Mocks Trump’s Tweets, and He Takes the Bait, as Usual
How do you parody a walking parody?
As the show so often does, Saturday Night Live has been mocking the political circus during this year’s election and beyond. As not-so-often happens, the president-elect of the United States has taken to Twitter to whine about the show’s (and Alec Baldwin’s) portrayal of him. Meanwhile, if we have any quibble with SNL’s accuracy this year, it’s that Clinton’s victory was unfortunately far less certain than depicted.
Last night, SNL‘s cold open was a sketch about how the person who should probably put his “victory tour” on hold to take some intelligence briefings also can’t seem to tear himself away from Twitter. So, of course, being a nonsensical parody of himself, he took to Twitter to bash the show over this criticism, which is probably the best possible outcome SNL could have hoped for—in case you had any doubts about how easy he is to bait.
Baldwin had a pretty quick response:
Release your tax returns and I’ll stop.

Don’t forget that Donald himself hosted Saturday Night Live in the not-too-distant past—not to mention that he was bolstered as a candidate by the entire TV news media turning into his own personal campaign commercial—which makes it kind of ridiculous that he’d complain now, but don’t expect that to stop him.
