Were the ‘Sonic 2’ Movie Post-Credits Scenes Leaked?

Yes, and I watched it, and I literally screamed.

Post-credits sequences are a strange beast. They’ve become one of the most-anticipated parts of franchise films, because they’re entirely devoted to teasing the next film—which is kind of funny, when you think about it, but also obviously delightful. After all, the post-credits scene for the first Sonic the Hedgehog film showed that Tails would be featured in Sonic 2, causing universal delight and excitement. So, of course the one scene that would leak ahead of Sonic 2′s release would be the post-credits scene.

This post-credits scene has, in fact, leaked. It’s quite grainy, as it’s clearly a phone video taken at a press screening, but the video is good enough quality to be more than tolerable for the curious. The other option, at this point, is to wait until Sonic 2 releases next week, on Friday, April 8, only in theaters—no pandemic-fueled early streaming release strategy with this one.

So, take this moment to reflect and look inside yourself. Are your desires in viewing this film more about the fun of it than its content? Do you truly care about spoilers? I’ll tell you the post-credits scene has ambient spoilers about the film’s climactic fight and hints at what happens to Eggman. Additionally, it’s worth considering whether you’re uncertain about going to the theater, and will therefore likely get the post-credits scene spoiled for you anyway, by a friend who is more certain about venturing into public places in this day and age? Reflect. Muse. And, if you want to watch it, here it is.

If you decide to watch it, let’s rendezvous below. If you don’t want to, stop reading this article right now, because I’m about to get very, very spoilery.

RIGHT?!!! I watched the post-credits scene hoping that is exactly what would be in it. I will admit to you now that my primary Sonic game is Sonic Adventure 2 for the Gamecube. I adore that game. It’s highly nostalgic for me, so I’m a huge Shadow person. I might go so far as to say that Shadow’s involvement makes me more likely to play a Sonic game—or go to the theater and see a Sonic film. I love that egotistic, emo-as-hell little dude. I love him so much.

I highly anticipate the announcement of a voice actor. My take: Did you play Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed? You know how the very angsty way Shadow would say, “Why, you!” when he was hit? This is the vibe I want for the whole film. Who’s the angsty and emo go-to these days? I look forward to the Twitter discourse.
