More Hints That Sophia Myles Is Returning to Doctor Who — But As Whom?
The World May Never Know
No, this is not an excuse to post a picture of the back of David Tennant‘s neck. Whovians across the interwebs have been gathering more and more evidence — a lot of it via Twitter — that Madame de Pompadour herself, Sophia Myles, is returning to Doctor Who for a guest spot of some sort. For example, Myles has been talking about being in Spain and having luggage problems since the weekend. And where is the cast and crew of Doctor Who right now? Spain! Case closed … Okay, not quite. But there’s more.
Bleeding Cool has the evidence list, including Myles’ Spain tweets, as well as an increasing amount of tweets between the actress and Steven Moffat. You might recall that the episode in which Myles appeared, “The Girl in the Fireplace,” was written by Moffat and was the only episode the current showrunner wrote that season. She was also very dear to the Doctor in his 10th incarnation. And she also died at the end.
But the good thing about Doctor Who is that we can time travel! So no one really ever dies! There are also exceptions to every rule, if there were any rules at all! So it’s entirely possible that she’ll be back, though she’ll have to get used to a different-looking Doctor.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, what else is leading everyone to believe that Myles is even coming back? For one thing, she was recently interviewed by Benjamin Cook, who works for Doctor Who Magazine, which apparently seems to know who the next companion is, but isn’t sharing. The magazine’s editor, Tom Spilsbury, also mentioned meeting with Myles on Twitter.
However, the real killer evidence is this: Myles is scheduled to appear at the official Doctor Who Convention. Some are taking all of this talk as an indication that Myles could rejoin the show — as the Doctor’s next companion.
