Special Edition: NYC Helping to Spotlight #BlackComicsMonth and Creator Diversity!
Plus, FREE COMICS! Huzzah!
We were already plenty excited about Special Edition: NYC this weekend! In addition to hosting panels of our own and flailing over some of our favorite creators, there’s another awesome panel we want to spotlight!
The #BlackComicsMonth: Diversity in Comics panel will be held on Saturday, June 6. Moderated by Dean “Tee” Vixen (who will also be appaearing on our panel!, founder of the websites VixenVarsity.com and BlackComicsMonth.com, it will feature some pretty amazing creators like Greg Pak (Batman/Superman, The Princess Who Saved Herself), artist Valentine De Landro (Bitch Planet), and comics creators Alitha E. Martinez (Foreign), Che Grayson (Rigamo), Kim Gaines (Eventide), Skuds McKinley (Plunder), and recently added Daryl “DMC” McDaniels (Daryl Makes Comics)!
Even better than listening to these comics heavy-hitters talk about the representation of minorities in both comics panels and in the comics industry, panel attendees will be able to take all that inclusivity and diversity home with them! More than 350 comics featuring diverse creators and characters are gonna be given away in probably the biggest giveaway of diverse comics ever!
So, if you’re going to Special Edition: NYC, check out the #BlackComicsMonth: Diversity in Comics panel on June 6th at 1:15 p.m. in Theater 2. We’ll see you there (and then at our panels later in the evening, of course)!
