Spider-Man: Homecoming hasn’t even been released yet, but it looks like producers are already working on a sequel. The confirmation comes from Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, who told Women’s Wear Daily that they hud begun discussing details of the next film, including which baddie will appear. “My next project, I can’t tell you about, but we’ve just finished Spider-Man and we’re talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we’re going,” he said.

It’s not surprising that they’d want to jump on this right away. The hype around Homecoming grew exponentially after Holland appeared in Captain America: Civil War wielding Cap’s shield and mouthing off to Sam and Bucky. Besides, what kind of superhero franchise would it be if there wasn’t at least one sequel? Caped crusader movie fatigue is real, and there’s no way it’s going to end with Spider-Man. Plus, the franchise has already been rebooted twice before. This is pretty much on brand.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7, 2017. Before then, Benedict Cumberbatch will bring Doctor Strange to life on the big screen on November 4. If you’re expecting a Peter Parker cameo in that one, you’re out of luck. As for Avengers: Infinity War? That might be a different story: “It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is,” he told Variety.

Interesting.
