So Marvel Is Doing Something With Squirrel Girl as Evidenced by New Trademark

On July 18, 2014, a trademark was filed by Marvel to protect Squirrel Girl. Ohhhhh boy. That’s relatively big news for the character, considering Marvel mostly files such trademarks when it feels it has something new to protect—like, say, a character in an upcoming TV show or movie.

Here it is, direct from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office:

In the past, Squirrel Girl has been known to go toe to toe with the likes of Wolverine and Doctor Doom.

The Great Lakes Avengers member also recently appeared in Marvel’s MMO game Marvel Heroes, to our delight and amusement (and Ms. Marvel’s amusement). So where will she turn up next? It’s anyone’s guess, but good bets are S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Netflix Defenders miniseries lineup.

Although, maybe she’s one of those surprise female Avengers characters, because (unlikely but I guess possible spoilers) Wouldn’t hurt to have a female character actually do all the saving for once, you know.
