Stan Lee Might Have, Maybe, Confirmed a Doctor Strange Movie’s Definitely Happening
Stan Lee might be the most well-known name in comics, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made mistakes in the past. When it comes to the Marvel movies, he’s good for a cameo and executive producer credit, but he’s not really all that involved in the production. So, when we say that Mr. Lee might have just outed a Doctor Strange movie as definitely happening, it’s important to absorb that news with a grain of salt. Once you’ve done that, feel free to squee.
All this traces back to a Q&A session featuring Lee at the Savannah College of Art and Design after their recent film festival. Here’s the relevant bit:
Q: Any new super hero’s that are going to be made into movies that are going to come out in the near future?
Lee: “Oh they are all being made into movies! I can tell you there will definitely be a Dr. Strange movie! They are working on Antman [sic], which requires really small cameras! Black Panther is being developed, one of my favorites…the Inhumans…All the hero’s will eventually be made into movies.”
This is obviously not the same as, say, Marvel themselves saying that there’s a Doctor Strange — or Black Panther — movie in the works, but it is Stan Lee saying that there’s one happening. It’s not like he’s some hobo spouting nonsense; the guy genuinely might know if one’s in the works.
One can only hope that our favorite Sorcerer Supreme really is heading to the big screen. Maybe then everyone will forget about his animated movies.
