Prepare to Scream: A New Teaser for Star Trek: Discovery Has Arrived
And it's harking back to its roots.
We may not have a premiere date in sight, but production for Star Trek: Discovery has already begun and a new teaser is offering up our first behind-the-scenes glimpse. The next chapter will include bold new uniforms and a new captain’s chair, but the same exploration of humanity that Gene Roddenberry began decades ago.
What we know so far is that Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg have taken over for Bryan Fuller as showrunners, and that production has been delayed to accommodate Sonequa Martin-Green’s busy schedule, seeing as she also stars on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Plus, True Blood and Orphan Black alum James Frain has been added as Spock’s father, Sarek, and is said to be a “key character” in the series.
He joins a stacked crew that also includes Anthony Rapp, best known for playing Mark Cohen in the hit musical Rent, and Hocus Pocus star Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, a science officer who is also a member of an alien species not yet seen in the Star Trek universe. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s Michelle Yeoh will also appear in the series as Captain Georgiou of the Starship Shenzhou.
While we don’t have many details on the plots, it’s already been revealed that the show will take place before Captain Kirk’s adventures on the S.S. Enterprise.
