Make It So

While many Star Trek fans were anxiously awaiting midnight tickets to go on sale for Into Darkness, a new opportunity will let you see the film two full days ahead of its May 17 release date.

We already knew Paramount Pictures had a deal with IMAX to release the J.J. Abrams film in their larger-than-life theaters but this is something special for fans. Starting now, you can purchase tickets to see Star Trek Into Darkness for May 15, two days early. But the tickets are only for IMAX.

I just tried to test this on Fandango but it still says the release date is May 17th and won’t let me purchase tickets. But if you download the Star Trek Into Darkness phone app a link appears to look for showings in your area and allows you to purchase tickets, so that may be the only way to get them. Edit: Here’s a link to find tickets directly from Fandango (Just adjust the zip code).

“As we saw with the reaction to the first nine minutes of the film, which debuted in our theaters in December, fans are clearly excited by the opportunity to see this epic film come to life in Imax,” Imax Entertainment chairman and president Greg Foster said in a statement.

Abrams film shot around 30 minutes of footage with the special IMAX cameras in case you were wondering. And if you missed it, check out the Star Trek Into Darkness Super Bowl spot!
