Star Wars: Episode VII Character Descriptions Revealed?

Dateline reported today that the character descriptions for the new Star Wars film have already been sent out to agents, and now fans everywhere are speculating about the characters. Who will be stepping up to play the leads for the franchise’s seventh entry, directed by J.J. Abrams?

Vague, unmarked character descriptions are under the cut, so you have been warned (if you consider those spoilers).

Character descriptions are as follows:

A young man aged between 20 and 25, witty and smart, fit but not classically handsome,

Man in late twenties, also fit, but this one is handsome and confident.

Late teenage girl, independent, good sense of humour, also… physically fit .

Second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and physically fit.

Man in his forties, obviously physically fit, this one is a military type.

A man of around thirty or so, this one is an intellectual type.

Finally, a guy aged around seventy, strong opinions and tough.

Though the descriptions are incredibly vague, the mystery around who, exactly, these characters are has already been picked apart by fans across the web. After rumors that the new film would be based on Star Wars expanded universe canon, it would be feasible to guess that the young man and late teenage girl are Han and Leia’s children, Jacen and Jaina Solo.

This guess assumes that narrative basis for the story will be the expanded universe, however, and that is not yet confirmed. It’s worth noting that Jacen and Jaina are twins, and the ages listed in these descriptions don’t match up accordingly. However, it could be a way to throw fans off the scent, or even simply a casting preference that will not have bearing on the ages of the characters themselves.

Considering Abrams; infatuation with keeping his characters and plots hush-hush (Benedict Cumberbatchs Star Trek: Into Darkness character, for example?) it might take a while before we get any solid information about the cast of characters for Star Wars VII,  but considering this is a Disney film we could also be pleasantly surprised.

Abrams says to expect production on the movie to begin in 2014. It will probably take just as long for us to finally get an answer to whom these “physically fit” teens are supposed to be.
