But can it make the kessel run in less than twelve parsecs? That’s the real question. Well… actually, the real question is how many people are going to pipe up in the comments section about how parsecs are actually a measure of distance because they think we don’t all know that and make jokes about it to mess with them. Either or.
This modified quadcopter was built by drone enthusiast Olivier C (Not to be confused with Otto Dieffenbach of remote-controlled TARDIS fame), who says with this bulky frame it’s only capable of going 30 km per hour and cost up 1,000 euros to put together. Totally worth it, in my opinion—but not if you do care about parsecsm according to someone on Olivier’s Reddit thread who actually did the math on how long it would take to recreate the original Kessel Run:
The Kessel run is an 18 parsec route, however Han, skilled pilot that he was, was able to take a shortcut around the Maw Black Hole cluster that reduced that distance to around 12 parsecs. So for the sake of these calculations, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re as skilled as Mr. Solo.
At a top speed of 30 km/h, that would take you approximately 1,407,345,714 years, 300 days, 17 hours, 43 minutes, and 30 seconds. Give or take. This is also not accounting for the time it takes you to recharge, since you say you can only operate for about 5 minutes at a time.
Yeah, I think you’d want a real sized Falcon for that. But look at how cute this one is!
