Marvel Announces Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Comic Prequel Series
I hope those of you at C2E2 this weekend are having a great time! Star Wars fans got a great bit of news there this morning. Marvel will be releasing a new limited series based on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!
At the Diamond Comics Retailer Breakfast this morning at Chicago’s C2E2, Marvel announced that we have a Rogue One series to look forward to later this year – probably leading up to the film’s release on December 16th.
According to Comics Alliance, they didn’t give much information on what to expect, except that it would be a three-issue story “plus a one-shot.” As of right now, no creative team has been announced on the series yet.
As they continue to develop this title, I hope that they’re considering female creators. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is exciting in large part because it’s a female protagonist, played by Felicity Jones, who’ll be our window into the Rebellion’s plans to steal the plans for the Death Star. If The Force Awakens has taught us anything, it’s that having a female/feminine perspective on a story like this can be such a breath of fresh air. It’s time we extended that from those in front of the camera (or in this case, on the panels) to those who are creating these stories. Here’s hoping Marvel is smart enough to put this book into the hands of one of the many talented female creators with whom they’ve worked before.
Will you be reading the Rogue One prequel series?
