You Can Stream the Steven Universe Soundtrack Right Now!
Just in time for the weekend, the Steven Universe team has made their killer soundtrack available on streaming services and digital platforms. Steven Universe Soundtrack: Vol. 1 includes all of the songs from the start of the series through episode 120 (minus some of the shorter ones), so almost all your faves should be there, including:
- “Giant Woman”
- “Strong in the Real Way”
- “Be Wherever You Are”
- “Comet”
- “Stronger Than You”
- “Do It for Her”
- “It’s Over, Isn’t It?”
To maximize the feels, show creator Rebecca Sugar and composers Aivi Tran and Steven “Surasshu” Velema arranged the songs in order of appearance. “I really wanted you to be able to see or hear, when you listen to it, the way we progress as a show,” said Sugar in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t want to re-color that experience…I want you to hear all of us evolve as songwriters. And the one thing we did do was remaster and remix every track so that it would sound the best it ever sounded.”
For Sugar, the soundtrack also represents a new and important way to connect with the Steven Universe audience. “There are certain things that we just don’t have time to do because it’s television animation,” she said. “There are just certain feelings I don’t have time to explore because you’re telling a story from start to finish. But I think part of that feeling is blasting this music in a car with your family. Part of this music is playing this game with your sibling and your friends. And if that can happen, then for me, it rounds out the experience of the show.”
When Sugar first announced the soundtrack back in April, ” she urged fans to rock out to the songs: “Please blast them! Please sing along! That’s what these are for!”
Well, you heard the woman, readers. Enjoy!
