Supergirl Finds Its Livewire in True Blood‘s Brit Morgan
It's electric, boogie-woogie-woogie!
Sometimes the coolest characters in DC don’t come from the comics. Occasionally, they come from the animated universe. Such is the case for Livewire, the brash, sarcastic villain created by Bruce Timm for Superman: The Animated Series in 1997. She’s since appeared in DC comics, as well as on Smallville. Now, she’ll be coming to CBS’s Supergirl, as they’ve recently announced casting Brit Morgan (True Blood, The Middleman) in the electrifying role.
As of right now, Morgan will be guest starring in one episode in the role of Livewire, a.k.a. Leslie Willis, a shock-jock who works for Cat Grant’s CatCo Media conglomerate. However, since she is tied to CatCo, I have a feeling she’ll be recurring before we know it. Here’s what Variety has to say about her role:
Leslie is a confident, abrasive and funny shock-jock who works for CatCo Media, the conglomerate owned by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). When an accident makes her as dangerous and shocking as her words, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must stop her.
I’m so excited to see Livewire coming to Supergirl, as I think it’s important and awesome when female heroes get to fight female villains, and Livewire’s a great character. I’m sure that Morgan will be great in the part, too! However, I’ve gotta say that I’ll miss Lori Petty’s voice. To me, she’s got the definitive sound of Livewire, and hers is the voice I hear when I read the characters in the comics. Here’s hoping that Morgan will grab this role by the lapels and make it her own!
