Star Wars: The Old Republic Gets an Ewok, Making the Game Way More Adorable
Yub nub. Eee chop yub nub. Ah toe meet toe pee-chee keene. G'noop dock fling oh ah. Yah wah
I know some people think of them as the Jar Jar Binks of their day, but I love the Ewoks, and I don’t care who knows it. Most of my life has been spent wishing I had a little Ewok buddy to follow me around everywhere I go trying to kill things with a spear. Star Wars: The Old Republic is making my dream come true and letting players get an Ewok companion — for a price.
Meet Treek. She’s essentially the Chewbacca of Ewoks. While most Ewoks are peaceful denizens of treetop villages, Treek wipes out whole camps of people and steals their starships. Check out her full backstory in this cut scene from the game. You might want to full screen it, as for all Treek’s many talents, she hasn’t mastered English, so subtitles become necessary to get her whole story.
So, yes, Treek is kind of a badass for an Ewok, but that doesn’t make her any less adorable. Speaking of which, can we acknowledge for one moment the fact that even things like “After nights many, I finally killed them all and claimed their starship” are really cute when they’re spoken in Ewok?
I would start playing The Old Republic right now if you could get an Ewok pal from the start, but to unlock Treek you need one million credits and to be a Legacy level 40 character. That sounds like a lot of work, but I don’t know — I sure do love Ewoks.
Yub nub.
