I came to the work of Tamora Pierce later in life than usual, but I am nevertheless of the opinion that there can never be too much fan art of Alanna the Lioness. Tumblr artist Nest of Straight Lines has done an entire series of Pierce’s characters in a style inspired by Disney. They say the project began as a way to contrast Pierce’s themes of gender with Disneys, but “halfway through I realized I wasn’t exactly sure WHAT I was saying anymore. Disney’s great. Tamora Pierce is great.”

I agree, Nest of Straight Lines, I agree. You can find links to all nine of her designs, with explanations, here.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
