The Good Omens TV series, adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s novel, is getting ever further into production, with photos of the first episode’s readthrough and David Tennant and Michael Sheen’s new hair hitting the internet last week. We also got some additional casting news, but today has brought us the first full look at the lead actors in their roles.
In a tweet, Gaiman detailed that the pair’s look, with Tennant and Sheen looking appropriately dark and moody/bright and cherubic for their roles as the demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale, respectively, is from about a decade prior (in-universe) to when the bulk of the story takes place. Personally, I think they look great (seriously never thought I’d use the word “cherubic” to describe Michael Sheen, but here we are), and I’m thoroughly enjoying imagining the rest of the world these two fit into—and everyone’s pretty happy that the 10th Doctor finally (kind of) got his wish to be ginger.
On the other hand, I’ve seen complaints that they look Halloween costume-esque, rather than befitting a quality adaptation. I’ll have to reserve final judgment until everything comes together on-screen, rather than a behind-the-scenes photo, but I’m curious as to what everyone else thinks so far.
