Thor: The Dark World, Game Of Thrones Director Wanted For The Terminator Reboot

I'll Allow It

I’m a big Terminator fan. Like, tattoo on my body, big. I’ll take more no matter how bad it is but the latest on the reboot trilogy is director Alan Taylor is being courted for it. This is something I can get behind.

Variety has the news of Thor: The Dark World and frequent Game of Thrones director as being “in talks” for Skydance Productions, Paramount and Annapurna Pictures’ Terminator trilogy reboot.

“Plot details have not been revealed other than this is the first film in a stand alone trilogy. It is still unknown at this time what part Arnold Schwarzenegger will have in the film, though he has said in past interviews he will be back for the film,” writes Variety, as we roll our eyes for their phrasing. “The studio had targeted Ang Lee early on, but a deal could never be reached. Other early targets included Rian Johnson and ‘Prisoners’ director Denis Villeneuve. In the end, Taylor won the job in helping reboot the iconic sci-fi franchise.”

It’s an interesting choice, to be sure, and certainly bodes well for Thor: The Dark World in my mind considering Taylor mostly had HBO credits to his name before leading the Marvel sequel.

Still no word on how the reboot with actually play out, as a straight rip of the 1984 film’s plot or venturing out on its own from the basic idea, but the first film is set for release June 26, 2015.
