Everyone’s Losing It Over This Smoldering Batman/Catwoman EW Cover
BatCat fans, this one is for us.
Entertainment Weekly decided to surprise fans of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle by giving us the perfect BatCat digital cover in preparation for The Batman! The cover features Zoë Kravitz and Robert Pattison standing close together, looking at each other, and while that could be just a basic pose, it’s not. It’s hot. Because it’s BatCat. (Said by a BatCat Super Fan.)
There are plenty of other looks into the photoshoot as well, with the two giving us their best smoldering looks that fit perfectly with the vibe we want out of Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne!
The article includes Pattinson and Kravitz talking about their first screen test together, noting that it was Zoë Kravitz’s audition for the role of Selina, while it would be the first time Pattinson uttered a word as Bruce Wayne even though he was already cast. “The first time I’d even said lines from the script was in Zoë’s screen test,” Pattinson recalled. “They had this idea that they wanted me to be taller at the beginning, so I basically had high-heeled sneakers on, and I’m tottering around in this strange Batman outfit. The camera’s not even on me, it’s on the back of my head, and I’m literally having this major panic attack, just looking for emotional support from Zoë, who’s trying to get the part.”
And while it was nerve-racking for both Pattinson and Kravitz, the motorcycle helmet we’ve seen the latter wearing in the trailer posed maybe the biggest problem: “That totally spun me into a little bit of anxiety. It’s wildly complicated to take off a helmet and look cool, not have it get stuck on your head, or your hair look funny. I was convinced that was going to be my downfall.” But it wasn’t enough to stop the two from wowing everyone watching.
“They really connected,” added director Matt Reeves. “Everyone could see there was something really special between them.”
The appeal of BatCat
Being a fan of Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne has lasted me, personally, a lifetime. But it has also given me many gifts throughout the years. Mainly in the form of Helena Wayne, my favorite superhero child but that’s a story for a different day. What their relationship does is balance the other out. Selina is, for the most part, in this game for herself but when she meets Bruce, who is doing this for everyone but himself, the two start to balance out those aspects of the other.
It helps that Selina and Bruce are hot in regard to how the two talk to each other and interact, mainly thanks to Selina’s cat-like mannerisms. The two are, frankly, made for each other and while we have no shortage of them in Batman media, it is nice to see a movie so clearly pushing them to the public like The Batman is.
I’ve talked at length about why I’m so excited for The Batman and one of those reasons is definitely getting to see the relationship between Bruce and Selina grow and now I’ll have these pictures to carry me on as I wait until its March 4th release date.
