NBC’s The Good Place season finale is tonight, and while the long wait between now and season four will feel like The Bad Place (maybe with less bees with teeth, at least) there’s some consolation that The Good Place content party won’t be entirely over.

The best behind-the-scenes podcast, The Good Place Podcast, will have an episode up tomorrow discussing the finale with showrunner Mike Schur and our favorite demon, Ted Danson. But you, dear reader, can listen to two exclusive clips right now, here on The Mary Sue.

In the first clip, Schur discusses the casting process that brought us the delight that is William Jackson Harper as everyone’s favorite stomachache-prone ethics expert, Chidi Anagonye. At this point, it’s difficult to imagine anyone but Harper in the role, but he was far from the only actor to read for the part—and yet, Eleanor has only one true soulmate. Listen below:

In the second, Schur discusses how the show has paid off elements from earlier seasons according to its master plan—and sometimes not.

We’re certainly looking forward to some payoff tonight—before the show inevitably hits us with another wild cliffhanger of a season finale.

If you’ve missed out on The Good Place Podcast, check it out as you dive into a rewatch. Host Marc Evan Jackson (Sean) takes listeners episode by episode, chatting with writers, actors, directors and crew in a funny and informative show that we love almost as much as the television program. And we may not have to wait until season four Good Place premiere for more pod-tent from the Schurniverse and Jackson; it looks like a Brooklyn 99 podcast may be on the horizon as well, and we can’t wait.

The Good Place season three finale airs today, January 24, at 8:30 on NBC. The Good Place Podcast is available wherever you find your podcasts.
