The House of El: Supergirl‘s Cat Grant Needs to Learn That Women Are “Stronger Together”
C'mon, Cat. It's 2015.
Welcome to The House of El, a new video series where I’ll go beyond the Supergirl recap, delve a little into the DC Comics source material and other incarnations of the character, and hone in on a topic from that week’s episode of CBS’ Supergirl that I find interesting, annoying, or that really sticks in my craw. Wherever my “craw” is.
This week, Episode Two of Supergirl‘s first season, “Stronger Together,” got me thinking about how Cat Grant represents old-school feminism, and how instead of so much “tough love” regarding her attitude toward Supergirl (and Kara), perhaps she should be more of a helpful mentor? Why should Supergirl go through all this sexist, double-standard bullshit without help just because Cat did as she was coming up?
What do you think of Cat Grant? Do you think she has a point, or do you think she should be more helpful and encouraging of a female superhero? And since she’s been great at these, what are some of your favorite Cat Grant one-liners so far?
Discuss in the comments below! And I’ll see you next Thursday! (I promise I’m not spelling what you think I’m spelling. I literally mean there will be another video like this here on Thursday)
