[VIDEO] The House of El: Run the World (Supergirl)

Recommended Videos

Welcome to The House of El, the video series where I go beyond the Supergirl recap, delve a little into the DC Comics source material and other incarnations of the character, and hone in on a topic from that week’s episode of CBS’ Supergirl that I find interesting, annoying, or that really sticks in my craw. Wherever my “craw” is.

In last week’s episode, “Hostile Takeover,” Cat Grant is hacked, and Kara has to deal with the return of her aunt Astra. In both storylines, we’re treated to rare glimpses of feminism as fact. Images and circumstances that aren’t remarked upon as “feminist,” but that simply exist. Join me as I talk about how wonderful it is when Supergirl shows rather than tells when it comes to feminism; and find out what all of this has to do with a Beyoncé song.

Also, please note that, as I say in the video, The House of El will be a monthly video series rather than a weekly one starting in January. They’ll likely post on the last Friday of every month, but we’e still figuring out the schedule. So, the videos will be less frequent, but they’ll hopefully be more substantive and awesome! Keep your eyes peeled next month!

And as always, I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below! And remember – Supergirl is now on hiatus until it returns January 4th with an all-new episode. Try not to be too sad over it between now and the New Year.
