Did… Did Nolan North Just Say There’s a Sequel for The Last of Us Coming?

Press X to Ellie.

Nolan North may have just let the infected out of the bag: The Last of Us might be getting a sequel. Spoilers follow if you haven’t finished the game quite yet.

In a panel during Metrocon, North answered a question about whether he was doing any more projects with Naughty Dog, the studio behind The Last of Us and Uncharted. He said, “For now I know they’re doing Last of Us 2, but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise.”

For those of you who’ve finished the game, you know that it ends on a very interesting note. Joel’s taken Ellie away from the Fireflies and back out to a compound in the wilderness. He lies to her about why he did what he did, but for all of us, we can maybe tell. Either way, it very much felt like there was much more story to tell. Troy Baker said as much during his own panel at IndyCon.

As reported by Polygon:

“I don’t know if we’re gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told.”

What say you? Would you be looking forward to a sequel for The Last of Us?
