The Mary Sue and a Day Without a Woman
The Mary Sue will look a little different today due to a Day Without a Woman.
Our site’s mission is always to advocate for women, but due to the strike planned today by the organizers of the Women’s March, today will be different. Our entire staff, except for myself, is made up of women, and today, their energy will be devoted entirely to supporting A Day Without a Woman through a variety of essays and articles about the strike, the issues they feel strongly about, and the history of women rising up to make the world a better place.
Our social media feeds will also be entirely dedicated to the strike, with helpful information and strike-related stories. The women who work here will do nothing today other than use our platform to the best of its ability to support the ongoing fight for equality.
If you’re striking today and looking for events to take part in, we’ll have as much information as we can later in the day to help you out. If you can’t strike or don’t know what to do as a male ally, the Women’s March FAQ section has some suggestions for ways that you can still participate—a good start is not spending money anywhere, unless it’s a business owned by women or members of a marginalized group.
