The Peanuts Return to Television in All-New Short Cartoons on Boomerang
You saw the title of this post, and you’re already hearing it, aren’t you? The Peanuts are coming back to television next month in all-new cartoons!
Thanks to the success of The Peanuts Movie and the fact that France’s Normaal Animation has been making new Peanuts cartoons under license since 2014, Boomerang will be airing all-new Peanuts shorts beginning in May. Normaal Animation will be handling the Peanuts cartoons on Boomerang as well, and they stay truer to the original Peanuts cartoons of the 1960s and 70s, rather than the 3-D style in the recent film.
What’s cool, is that Normaal Animation seems to embrace the fact that the Peanuts characters started life as a comic strip, embracing those conventions. Check out this one. You can practice your French! (And your Italian with the Italian subtitles)
According to Variety, the new Peanuts episodes will be “using a watercolor art style and textured backgrounds that is aimed at pleasing both classic and new fans.” Judging by the above French version, these new Peanuts cartoons seem like they’ll be a lot of fun!
Peanuts will air on Boomerang every day at 11:30am beginning May 9th.
